Well-known on the pub circuit around Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire, Bacchus is a self-contained, fun-packed rock and roll machine. From Rob's searing Whammer Jammer harmonica wail, through Steve's jangling mandolin in Maggie May, to the biting, melodic twin and triple guitar harmionies that make ‘Jessica’ so instantly recognisable, you get an unshakeable sense of a band in possession of a full (and fresh) set of strings.
While gigs are a crowd-pleasing mix of covers and originals, the band's recorded work focuses on home-grown material. Rob takes the main songwriting credits, with contributions from Toby and Steve in the mix as well. Seize the Day, dedicated to band heroes Jim Morrison, Duane Allman and Berry Oakley, is the current Bacchus album release. Covers are typically sourced from classic acts like the Stones, Free, the Doors, Santana, the Beatles, Bryan Adams and Van Morrison.
